Hi. So this past week was a total bust. We started with good intentions..(I’m talking to you light)…. And ended on an equally bad note. It began with the simple idea of horizontal plank wainscoting, the lines of the wainscoting follow the line of the stairs. Good idea, right?
So I hurried off to the store and bought four sheets of Sandeply (a really thin wood), loaded it into the car and drove home at 25 mph with it half hanging out the back.
I pulled a sheet out of the car and laid it on two by fours thinking I would follow the same method I always use to cut giant sheets of plywood to size. Except this time I was cutting the plywood into strips. 3” wide strips. The pieces weren’t big enough to clamp, so my little trick where I use wood on either side of the jigsaw to create a track forcing me to cut in a straight line wouldn’t work.
I refused to give in.

I enlisted my hubby’s help and we muscled the table saw into the center of the garage. It had to be in the garage because it had started raining. We don’t want wet wood, now do we? Hmmm. So it was in the garage and he held one end and pushed the wood while I held it perfectly straight and slightly pulled as it came across the blade. Three inch strips, perfectly straight and eight feet long.

Eazy Peazy. Not!
Somehow only two strips were straight, the rest (nearly two sheets of plywood worth) were curved. One of us must have tugged to the side or pushed toward an edge.

First – the Pinterest Challenge, then Finance Midterm, then Plan B.
Plan B is pretty crazy, but crazy seems to work around here.

Dang it on the wood! I actually thought about doing it that way. What a pain. Good luck with the rest!
I am not giving up yet! Plan B is in the works!
